It is a do-or-die battle for Alastair Cook’s men at Mohali when they take on the World No.1 ODI team India in the 4th ODI at the PCA Stadium in Mohali on Wednesday. The visitors are trailing behind by 1-2 in the five match series with the momentum clearly shifting India’s direction following two crushing defeats.

The Indians at last enjoyed some success this season, defeating England 3-2 at home in the recently-concluded ODI series. We review the series from an Indian perspective, picking out the players who performed to potential and also singling out those who disappointed.

The Indians lost a great opportunity to thrash England 4-1 in the ODI series, and thus head into the next big series against Australia on a high. The hosts went into the dead rubber at Dharamsala high of confidence having won the last three games of the series, but could not transform the same into performance on Sunday.

England finished their India tour with a consolation win in the Fifth and Final ODI at Dharamsala. The English victory was well set up by its bowlers who kept India down to 226 and the run chase was smoothly anchored by Ian Bell who scored an unbeaten 3rd ODI century.

The one-day series may be in India’s bag already, but they would do well to keep the winning run going and clinch the final ODI of a satisfying series, at Dharamsala on Sunday. India have undoubtedly been much proficient in the last three matches played.
